3 More New Products From Microsoft Right Around the Corner
With a flurry of announcements in recent weeks, Microsoft has generated quite a buzz in the tech community. It started with the low rumble of Windows 8 coming in the distance. Sure, we’ve heard about Windows 8 coming for a long time, even got our hands on some nifty previews of it. Then we got a shocker from the surprise announcement of Microsoft creating the hardware for its very own tablet called Surface.
Still on a roll, Microsoft has teased us with 3 other significant technologies certainly worth a closer look. First up, the all new Windows Phone 8:
Windows Phone 8
Unveiled at the Windows Phone Summit, Windows Phone 8 will be built on the same underlying technology of the Windows operating system that will run on tablets, laptops, and desktops. In fact the visual similarity is striking. Notice in the picture below how both the tablet and phone (to the right) prominently feature the new Metro live tile interface.
While all details have not been release yet, here is some of what we do know:
- Windows Phone 8 to support Multi-core chipsets
- New Higher Screen Resolutions – 720p (1280×720) 16:9 and WXGA/720p+ (1280×768) 15:9
- Removable MicroSD Storage
- Wallet Experience –Supports NFC Tap to Pay
- Windows Phone to include Nokia Map Technology & Turn by Turn Directions

Hailed as a new way to interact with your TV, SmartGlass is another innovation from Microsoft closing in on a soon to be announced release date. Designed to be used in conjunction with your Xbox 360, SmartGlass uses a phone or tablet to enhance your games and entertainment experience.
