The Admin Corner: Improve Users Knowledge of Internet Explorer
A recent report using bogus and unscientific misrepresentation of numbers to call IE users dumb in comparison with persons using other browsers. And CNN picked this up and ran with it as you can see here. Others happily jumped on that bandwagon and wrote up articles that continued to mock IE users. ClipTraining’s J. Peter Bruzzese went on the defense in this weeks column for InfoWorld entitled ‘Stupid is as stupid does with IE users ‘study”
Foolish reports of that sort are nothing new and there isn’t much you can do about it. But it did make us think about about IE users and the need to make sure they are well trained when it comes to their use of their browser. The more users feel comfortable with the tools they have, the better they perform and the more productive they’ll be with those tools. Perhaps we take it for granted that a browser is relatively simple to use. But there are some interesting features in IE, especially the latest flavor IE 9, that users should know about like accelerators and web slices, a new download manager, a SmartScreen filter for protection from phishing attacks and more.
